If you wish to alter this payment date, you can do so using the subscription replacement feature.
Why Change the Subscription Payment Date
There are some scenarios where, at the client’s request, you may wish to offer a change in the subscription payment date.
For example: the client purchased a monthly subscription on the 16th, but requested that it be changed to the 1st of the month so they can budget for it more effectively.
How to Set Up A Payment Date Change With the Subscription Replacement Feature
This tutorial will show you the steps required to allow your clients to change their subscription payment dates.
Step 1: Set Up Your Subscription Product
First, set up your monthly subscription product (Tutorial).
Step 2: Create Your Offer (+ Replacement Option)
Now, create an offer as you normally would, and add your Monthly Subscription Product.
Check the box titled: This product can replace an existing subscription (Advanced feature).
Once you select the box, new options will appear, and you can take the following actions:
- Select the same product you created in Step 1, then click on it to reveal the additional options
- Select the Prorate the payments option
- Make sure NO tags will be applied on successful payment
Step 4: Embed The Order Form Inside Your Membership Site
Make sure to embed the order form inside your membership site.
If a user is not logged in, the order form will only appear as a simple purchase (no replacement will occur).
Step 5: Direct the User to the Order Form
When a user requests a subscription payment date change, simply ask them to re-purchase the subscription on the correct day of the month that they would prefer to be billed on.
Since you selected the pro-rated option, the amount they’ve paid so far will be credited to their account.
