Issue: My Smart Subscriber Recognition tags keep disappearing

If you use Smart Subscriber Recognition, but the tags keep disappearing, follow the steps in this article to fix the issue.

What causes the issue?

Some email platforms remove the utm tag, which is why we added another tag that can be used.

How to fix the issue

Instead of “utm_source”, you can now use “popupally_stop”. For instance, if the link was:

http://example.com/article/?utm_source=aweber

You can change it to:

http://example.com/article/?popupally_stop=aweber

Because “popupally_stop” is not a commonly recognized tag, the email systems will keep it.

The Smart Subscriber Recognition works in conjunction with ‘Thank You’ pages.

‘Thank You’ pages prevent the popups from appearing on the computer that the user subscribed from, which is useful for subscribers with only 1 device. The Smart Subscriber Recognition prevents the popup from appearing on any device.
